At Rogue Level 3, players also get to choose their subclass. The best option is the Thief subclass, which grants an extra bonus action – perfect for getting into the right position for a Sneak Attack, or for casting spells like Misty Step.

Flood a creature‘s mind with an illusion of the last thing that attacked it. Each turn, it takes 1d6 Psychic damage. Each time it takes damage from another source, the damage type of Phantasmal Force changes to that damage type.

There are a lot of large animals that Rangers can choose from in the Beast Master build, but only one of them has an ability that forces enemies to focus on them: the Bear. At Level 2, Sorcerers unlock the Metamagic system, which uses Sorcery Points to alter the way spells work for that turn. For instance, a Sorcerer can use a Twinned Spell to duplicate the next spell cast, with the ability to target different options.

Ward yourself or an ally against enemy attacks. Until the affected entity attacks or harms another creature, it cannot be targeted by enemy attacks. However, it can still take damage from spells that influence a large area.

Astarion : Best suited for the Thief subclass, Astarion lets you access hidden, locked areas more easily and is capable of setting up complex combat strategies without attracting attention with Stealth.

Call down a silvery beam of pale light that deals 2d10 Radiant damage to any creatures that enters it or starts its turn in the light. You can use an action to move the beam 18m. On a successful save, targets still take half damage.

After choosing the Criminal or Outlander backgrounds, Monks get two more choices for skill proficiencies. If you choose to go with the Criminal background, Stealth is removed from the list of choices, while Outlanders already have Athletics covered.

Aside from these powerful bonuses, though, Githyanki also gains the incredibly powerful Astral Knowledge ability. Until the next Long Rest, the player will gain Proficiency in all skills related to a specific Ability (like Athletics and Strength skill).

It's worth dipping into Fighter a little bit for the one extra attack, but players can even go as far as Ranger 7/Fighter 5 to get an extra attack every turn, though this mean losing out on more high-level Ranger abilities.

Oath of Devotion Paladins can choose from four Fighting Styles at Level 2: Defence, Duelling, Great Weapon Fighting, or Protection . The Defence bonus is the most widely applicable with a simple +1 to AC when wearing any Armor. The Protection Fighting Style offers a new Reaction that imposes a Disadvantage on enemy rolls nearby, but requires the Paladin to have a Shield equipped.

Touch a creature to grant it protection against poisonious influences. You neutralise all poisons affecting it, grant it Advantage on Saving Throws against being Poisoned, and grant it Resistance to Poison damage.

Choosing the Fighter multiclass in Baldur's Gate 3 is a go-to for many looking to multiclass because, with two levels in Fighter, players unlock the Action Surge ability. With a bonus action, a character can use Action Surge to gain a second action that turn.

There are a total of three BG3 subclasses Ranger players can try out, each of which focuses on different aspects of the class, and offers a selection of unique skills, proficiencies, and other features. As you level up in one of these BG3 Ranger subclasses, you will gain more abilities that are unique to your subclass choice.
